Shripal got his start in politics on a whim. He was getting ready to graduate from college and looking for a job, so he called one of his relatives seeking advice. When she offered him a job, he responded “I don’t know what you do, but if you’re going to pay me I’m in.” Weeks later, he did his first trip as an advance staffer for John Kerry’s presidential campaign. Within minutes, he was hooked.
Nearly twenty years later, Shripal has become an expert in communications and political strategy after working on some of the Democratic Party’s biggest campaigns. At Left Hook, he oversees the firm's public affairs practice where he advises issue advocacy organizations, non-profits, and corporations on communications strategy, media relations, and crisis communications.
Prior to joining Left Hook, Shripal served as Vice President for American Bridge 21st Century, one of the Democratic Party’s largest Super PACs, where he helped elect President Joe Biden in 2020. He previously served as the Communications Director for Senate Majority PAC, where he also oversaw the organization’s multi-million dollar digital advertising portfolio, and as Communications Director and Deputy Campaign Manager for Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).
Shripal also served as the National Press Secretary for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, as a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and on the communications team at the Democratic National Committee.
Shripal is a long-suffering Detroit sports fan who firmly believes this season will be the year the Lions finally win a playoff game for the second time in the franchise’s history. He resides in Washington, DC with his wife and two sons.
